Parents who choose the City Select 2 are usually planning for a second child and want one frame that grows with the family. Owners who still use it as a single describe a sturdy stroller that folds easily and takes a car seat without fuss, and one adds that the adjustable handlebar, suspension and big basket make everyday walks easy. Several have not yet added the second seat, so their reports describe it as a single.
Accessories are where the frustration sits. Owners note that car seat adapters, the second seat and small parts such as a belly bar are bought separately, and one found the belly bar sold only with the second seat kit. The seat reclines almost flat, which parents use to move a baby out of the car seat at a few months old with extra padding, but a newborn still needs a car seat and adapter or Baby Jogger's own accessories. One owner says it fits a Corolla trunk with room to spare.
Families expecting two children close in age, or who picked one up free with parts included, sound happiest with it. One owner who looked at an Uppababy in a shop saw nothing that justified the higher price, while another who bought the City Select 2 new was not fully sold and began comparing it with the Mockingbird single-to-double.
Owners say the seat reclines almost flat, and one moved a baby with good head control into it at about four and a half months, using a head support and an infant seat pad. That owner still asked for advice first, so parents decide this case by case.
Not always. One owner who bought it new found no belly bar on the main seat and could only find one sold with the second seat kit or a different version of the stroller.
Owners who tried could not find an adapter for an Uppababy bassinet, and another owner says off-brand bassinets do not fit, though adapters exist for several car seat brands. A parent with a free City Select 2 was still hunting for a newborn insert that works.
One owner says it fits a Toyota Corolla trunk with room to spare and calls it a substantial stroller even so. No other owner of this generation described the trunk fit.
